The email I wanted to send, but I couldn't.
"Dear Prof of Saraca hall,
I was very upset by the treatment I was receiving but out of goodwill I'm seeking your help to mediate this potential miscommunication. At the start of January, we have contacted a member of the subcommittee to supply keychains for Saraca hall Valentine’s sales. He had kindly agreed and helped us to contact the rest of the committee.
The leader has mentioned "looks good" and asked the subcommittee to submit a proposal thereby we have decided to proceed to purchase the raw materials. Nevertheless, I would also like to mention perhaps it is our fault that we are not aware that saying “looks good” does not mean it is confirmed. We are aware that the sales of keychains may not be high in hall, however we are willing to take the risks and potential loss to prepare in advance in case of high demand. The aim of our business is to satisfy customers as much as possible!
Due to manpower and uncertainty of the demand, therefore; we set a limit of 100 sales keychains.
To prepare for such sales,
We actually bought,
- 100 boxes,
- 100 keychains
- 4 litres of resin to prepare for this upcoming Vday sales.
However, just as of yesterday, the committee had a sudden change of mind and I was kindly informed that the committee decided to make the resin keychains on their own.
We decided to contact the person in charge; Yew Chain Kng to understand the situation better. Understanding that sales might not be that high, I had informed him nicely that it would be great if they could purchase half or even a quarter of the raw materials from us since they were going to do the resin keychains on their own.
In the short few hours of exchange of conversation with him; there was a lot of blaming. He told us that, they never say they will definitely be purchased from us. We were just a price point to them. They agreed at first to look into the purchase of boxes, which later on was completely shut down as seen in the screenshots. We, too, are students from polytechnic and we deserve respect. We are small entrepreneurs that started small businesses to provide nothing but the best for our customers, yet we have to suffer a complete loss with an offensive tone from him. We felt like we have been pushed to the corner but no choice to seek help and justice from you.
We do not understand why he has to contempt us even when we are just explaining the situation.
We will understand in the event if the hall is unable to purchase half or a quarter of the raw materials from us as the subcommittee member has kindly explained to us.
However, we would really like a sincere apology from him personally.
Hope to be able to settle the issue quickly without the need to escalate it further.

I have so many reservations, but nowhere to voice out. I am so pathetic that I can only post on a platform where no one will see. I can't even email to anyone, because the Uni students will twist and tweak to make it seemed like it is our fault that we did not receive any confirmation. I can only suck it up.
At the end of the day, it is all about the business that no one really cares about how you feel. This is the cruelty of reality.
" You were just a price point. "
" I am giving you an opportunity to call and say your concerns. "
Does that sound offensive? OH gosh, this really reflects so badly on NTU students.
It is not about the money nor the raw materials that have been purchased, but the way how we have been treated by NTU students. HA what a joke.
